CHILTON, Texas (FOX 44) – Chilton High School was briefly placed on lockdown Friday morning.

The Falls County Sheriff’s Office says this was due to a subject trespassing in school grounds. Deputies responded and resolved the situation.

The Chilton ISD Superintendent sent a letter to parents explaining what happened. Dr. Brandon Hubbard says the Sheriff’s office received a call about an active shooter in a school bathroom.

The district went into lockdown protocols while law enforcement cleared every classroom. Dr. Hubbard says members of the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division found the source of the call and is working to resolve the situation.

The district and law enforcement determined there was never a threat to student or school safety. Dr. Hubbard is asking that parents remind their children to immediately report any threats or suspicious activity to school staff.

According to the Milam County Sheriff’s Office, the incident at Chilton High School caught the attention of students at Cameron Junior High and resulted in rumors being spread there. Deputies determined there was no threat.

Milam County says those rumors also changed to include Rockdale ISD. Rockdale Police investigated and did not find a credible threat there, either.

This is a developing story. FOX 44 News will have more information as it becomes available.
