CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Residents of Chillicothe are being warned by the local police department about a new scam that is circulating in the area.
According to the police department, scammers are making calls pretending to be law enforcement officers and demanding money in relation to an arrest warrant. These scammers are also imitating the Chillicothe Police Department’s phone number to make their calls appear more legitimate.
The police department is urging residents to be cautious and vigilant when receiving any such calls, reminding them that legitimate law enforcement officers will never demand money. Instead, they advise residents to report any suspicious activity to the police department or the Federal Trade Commission at https://www.usa.gov/stop-scams-frauds.
