Two teens were arrested Saturday for a suspected robbery at a playground in Chico. According to Chico Police, the incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. when the department received a report of a male victim who said he was robbed in the area of Children's Playground on 212 W. 1st Street.
The victim told police the suspects robbed him, then fled on foot northbound Esplanade.
During the robbery, the victim said the suspects told him they had a firearm. The victim also was bleeding from the mouth after being assaulted by one of them during the robbery.
Officers arrived in the area and began searching for the suspects. A few officers near Chico High School saw two juveniles matching the robbery suspects' description.
Police detained a 14-year-old male juvenile and a 15-year-old male juvenile after a brief foot pursuit. Both suspects were found in possession of stolen property belonging to the male victim, and they were positively identified by witnesses and were placed under arrest.
The 15-year-old juvenile suspect was charged with robbery, making criminal threats, and resisting arrest. The 14-year-old juvenile suspect was charged with robbery.
