Nate Davis' Return Solidifies Offensive Line

The Bears starting offensive line as now constituted is together for the first time on a field.

Right guard Nate Davis has joined the team at OTAs.

A free agent signed for three years and $30 million, the former Titans starter had not participated in the first two weeks on the field, although he had been at Halas Hall for conditioning work.

"Everyone has things that they've gotta do, whatever they have to do in their personal life, they've gotta get done, too," offensive coordinator Luke Getsy said. "I don't think one's more important than the other, but I'm glad he's back. He was here before, now he's back.

"I think we've been able to accomplish a lot this offseason with him. We have a good day today, a good week next week, I think we'll be in a good place."

Davis, who is 6-foot-3, 316 pounds, is in his fifth year and has started 54 games.

The Bears had been working with either Ja'Tyre Carter or Lucas Patrick at right guard so far, but getting the whole group together lets them start to build a cohesive unit.

"Just the chemistry part of it that you really want, right?" Getsy said. "That's why you want all the guys here. You want them to get to know each other at a different level. Teammates that play with each other each and every day, spend time with each other each and every day outside of the building, I think that's important stuff.

"That's as much as anything, this time of the year, it's really important for us to dive into that aspect."
