CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police have issued a warning about a man who is believed to have sexually assaulted multiple women in South Shore after meeting through Snapchat.

It’s happened at least four times since March 2023, according to an alert from the Third District.

Police said a man has been posing as a female to contact women or girls via Snapchat. He then sets up an in-person meeting in South Shore, where he has raped and robbed four people in the past two months, officials said.

In one assault, police said the man threatened the women or girls with a knife. In the three latest attacks, though, they said he threatened them with a gun before assaulting them and stealing their phones and money.

Authorities said the first time was on the morning of March 21, near 74th Street and Euclid Avenue.

The three other assaults, which took place in May, happened near 73rd Street and Bennett Avenue. The most recent attack happened Saturday morning.

Police encouraged people to be alert and warn their neighbors.
