(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A teacher at a Chicago high school has been suspended during an investigation into claims the teacher threatened a student with a gun.

The student said the female teacher at George Washington High School had been harassing her for months and pushing her in the hallway.

In February, the teacher allegedly pulled a handgun part-way out of her purse and said, “I wish you guys would keep messing with me.”

The student waited to report it and when she did, she told the Chicago Sun Times, “three months and the school did nothing.”

That prompted her to go public.

The school sent a note to parents this week that read, “There has been an allegation that one of our staff members behaved inappropriately.”

The student said the teacher was angry with her because she refused to cover for the teacher when she was accused of bullying her friend.
