(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Local reaction to the indictment of former President Donald Trump is coming in.

Chicago Kent Law Professor Richard Kling said the indictment is one thing, the rest of the process is still unclear.

"Is he going to voluntarily go to the courtroom? Is he going to be extradited from Florida by Governor Ron DeSantis? If he refuses to come the courtroom, there are a myriad of issues that are yet to be tackled," Kling said.

Mayoral candidate Paul Vallas said the news is proof that no one is above the law. He also called Trump’s threats of violence over the indictment “dangerous and irresponsible.”

Brandon Johnson tweeted “justice must be served.”

Downstate Republican Congresswoman Mary Miller called the indictment “a witch-hunt to punish President Biden’s political opponents.”

Former governor Rod Blagoyevich, whose sentence was commuted by Trump, criticized what he called “weaponized prosecutors” for destroying our country.

Congressman Mike Quigley, who was on the first impeachment panel of Trump, said he spent years investigating the crimes and misdeeds of the former president, and said he must be held accountable.
