Elderly woman killed, 6 others injured in Irving Park crash

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An elderly woman was killed and six other people were wounded in a crash Tuesday night in Irving Park on the Northwest Side.

The 78-year-old woman has been identified as Zainab Suboh of Highland, Indiana.

A man, 44, was traveling east in a Kia SUV with five passengers in the 3400 block of West Patterson Avenue when they were struck by an 18-year-old man in a Saturn at the intersection, Chicago police said.

A 79-year-old woman was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the KIA and a woman, 36, were also taken to Saint Francis Hospital, police said. The woman was in critical condition and the man was in fair condition.

An elderly man, 80, was transported in critical condition to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Two children in the KIA — a boy, 3, and girl, 7, were transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where they were in fair condition, according to police.

The driver of the Saturn was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where they were in fair condition, police said.
