Key Bulls' Talent Injured In Saturday's Victory Over Miami

Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso left Saturday night's game against the Miami Heat with a left mid-foot sprain and was seen leaving the arena in a walking boot.

This season has been a complete disaster for the Chicago Bulls after finishing last year with a 46-36 record, making the playoffs for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

While they did pick up a much-needed win on Saturday night against the Miami Heat, putting themselves 1.5 games up on the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards for the 10-seed in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament picture, this win came at a price.

Halfway through the second quarter, Alex Caruso was forced to leave the game due to a left foot/leg injury. It was later revealed by the team that Caruso re-aggravated a left mid-foot sprain that he's been fighting all season long.

This is not necessarily a new injury for Caruso, as he has been dealing with a foot sprain over the last several weeks and he's missed 12 total games this season due to injuries.

After the game, the Bulls' guard was spotted leaving the arena with a walking boot, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times.

"I just think it's going to be something that he's going to have to manage this season," head coach Billy Donovan said after the game. "It's just the way it is. There's just not enough time necessarily to rest. He does everything he can from a rehab standpoint. I know our medical people along with doctors felt comfortable with him playing [entering the night]. A lot of it is going to be up to him and how he's doing."

Ahead of Saturday's game against Miami, Caruso was listed as probable due to a non-COVID illness that has affected him the last couple of days.

This season, Alex Caruso has averaged 5.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 36.1 percent from three-point range. His defensive abilities are what make him such a key talent for the Bulls and without him, their perimeter defense will surely take a hit.

Chicago will play their next game on Monday night on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers. Caruso will very likely be questionable, at best, heading into this game due to his foot injury.
