The best steak in the western Suburbs is Served at this restaurant.
My next visit takes me to the western suburbs. This restaurant is said to have some of the best South American/Peruvian food in the Chicagoland area.
The restaurant's name is Rio’s South American Restaurant in Addison.
We were celebrating my nephew’s birthday and made a 4:00 reservation for 8 guests. The restaurant's look was clean with decorations of different Peruvian artwork.
There were two other parties also seated near our table. The total amount of guests looked to be around 20 total.
We were seated and immediately given water. A gentleman stopped by our table and told us someone would be with us shortly.
The next time someone came back to our table to take our drink and appetizer order was 35 min later.
The appetizers arrived. Each appetizer was enough for maybe one or two people to share. The portion, of course, was very small. This was good to know if I came back to this restaurant in the future. The appetizers that I was able to try were tasty and had a lot of flavor. Some of the appetizers were cold, possibly from sitting and waiting for a server to take them out to our table. Overall, they were very tasty.
The same gentleman who told us when we first arrived that someone would be with us shortly was the one who ultimately became our waiter. I want to add I think this man was also a manager, possibly the owner.
We all put in our orders for our main courses. It took about another 45 minutes for our main courses to come to our table. This was the longest I have ever spent at a restaurant while waiting for food. This was not a multi course dinner. It was not meant to take this long.
The food that did come out all looked absolutely delicious and perfect. My dish which consisted of steak fried rice, plantains and roasted potatoes peppers, and onions was mind-blowing. It was so delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly.
The food here is some of the best that I’ve ever had. The steak was cooked perfectly in every dish that I had it in.
The waitstaff was friendly. The only problem is it is far too long to wait to put in orders and to receive your dishes. If you are not in a rush and have a couple of hours to spare this place really does put out fantastic food.
Gratuity was already added into our bill for eight people. The bill with appetizers, no alcohol, and the main dishes came to just under $600.
I looked on all of the food delivery apps to see if they belonged to any that I could order their food from home without having to wait hours to receive it. Sadly, the only way you can get their food is by dining in.
If the wait time were not too long I would give this a rating of 9 out of 10. But spending 3 1/2 hours for dinner. I have to knock it down to a 7 ½.
I also want to add that I do not think these long wait times are due to laziness or lack of care. I truly think that they are just understaffed like everywhere else.
I would say definitely check them out because you will be pleasantly surprised by how good the food is.
