Very Popular Breakfast Restaurant in Naperville is it worth the wait and price
12 days ago
My next review brings us back to the Naperville area. I absolutely love breakfast and when I find a good breakfast spot, it makes me so happy. The next location serves up massive portions without lacking in quality.
The name of my next location is ButterMilk in Naperville.
I first attempted to dine at this establishment on a Sunday at 9 AM. The wait was so long it was well over an hour. I didn’t have time that day to wait so I went across the street to Pour House restaurant. I will have that review up later in the month.
I returned on the following Wednesday at 9 AM and it was somewhat busy, but there was no wait. I was seated immediately at my table.
I looked through the menu and much of the menu had many items that I have seen and other restaurants similar to this, such as biscuits and pancakes, and other breakfast fairs.
I decided to go with their stuffed biscuit from what I read. It was a biscuit stuffed with ham, cheese, eggs, potatoes with sausage gravy. I also asked to do a small side of pancakes to try out their pancakes.
My wife ordered the chicken and biscuits. It was similar to mine except of course it had chicken. I also tried one of their seasonal drinks, which was an apple crisp macchiato-style coffee drink. My wife ordered a Coke.
The first thing to come to the table was a carafe of water and a carafe of Coke for my wife. This was way more Coke than she was going to drink, but I like it when restaurants do this, so we do not have to wait on refills. The water tasted fresh and purified. I did not have that nasty sink water flavor.
My drink arrived to the table and it was good, but I do not think I would order it again. It was very sweet and it did not have much apple flavor to it.
We waited about 15 minutes for our food to arrive. When our food could be seen coming out of the back kitchen area, I thought it was for some other table due to the enormous size of the portions.
My dish, which was the stuffed biscuit, also had a large portion of potatoes, ham, peppers, onions, and eggs on the side. The side of food could have been enough to feed both of us. In fact, the portions were so large. We laughed when we saw them.
I cut into my biscuit and cheese ham and eggs flowed out. Everything was super high-quality just because the portions were absolutely ridiculous. The quality was definitely there. We both made it through 1/3 of our plate. We could not eat anymore.
We also have the side pancakes, which if I had known how big these portions were, I would never have ordered. The pancakes, for the most part, had good flavor, but they tasted somewhat raw in the middle. I do not think I would order the pancakes again.
We now received our bill and it was probably the most expensive breakfast I have ever had for two people. The bill came for two of our entrées, my coffee drink, and my wife’s Coke for just over $61 with tip. We were well into the $70 + range.
The atmosphere was nice. It was somewhat hectic because it was so busy. The decor is white and has an extremely clean interior. I assume was to look like a fresh, modern farmhouse.
The service was very efficient. I would like to say I will definitely be back, but if I live in the area I don’t think I could justify spending close to $100 on breakfast multiple times a week.
This is definitely somewhere you need to check out just for their unique dishes and specials they offer weekly. I give a rating of 7.5 out of 10. Definitely go check this out for yourself.
The place sounds extremely wasteful and terribly overpriced. Most people would not be able to finish that platter of food in one sitting, and most people don't take leftover breakfast food home. The amount of food that they throw out must be crazy. Imagine taking your kids with you. You just spent 1/2 of your weeks grocery budget for breakfast in one sitting. Speaking from the business side of things, imagine the profit margin they'd still have if they gave you a 1/3 less food for a still unreasonable $25 price point. At $70 for 2 people, it won't be long before the doors close.
