Early morning storms cause Fairfield County school delays, damage in Midlands
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Severe storms moving through the state overnight has caused some trouble Thursday morning. Out of an abundance of caution, Fairfield County School District is on a two-hour delay. Students and staff should report two hours later as there are unconfirmed reports of tornado damage in the Ridgeway area. Trees are down and there have been areas of power outages reported. There was a tornado warning issued for that area earlier this morning.
Officials confirm case of tuberculosis at Chester County school
CHESTER, S.C. (WBTV) - Officials have confirmed a case of tuberculosis associated with Chester High School and are working to identify who may have been exposed. The SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) said the case was confirmed in a lab and said they are “working closely” with school leadership to determine who may have been exposed and needs to be tested.
