CHESAPEAKE, Va. — One person has been criminally charged after a shooting Saturday night left a man injured and a Chesapeake business damaged.
According to Chesapeake police, officers responded just before 7:30 p.m. to reports of gunshots at a convenience store at Providence and Campostella roads.
When officers arrived, they found a man shot and the E-Z Mart damaged from the gunfire.
Police said the man, who was not a store employee, was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
On Tuesday, police said they had arrested, Khalik Antonio Perry, 24, in relation to the incident. He is charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony and maliciously discharging a firearm in an occupied building.
Investigators say there are still other people who were involved in the shooting that police are trying to find.
They say Perry and all parties involved were not employees of the E-Z Mart. They believe an altercation inside the store led to the gunfire.
