CHESAPEAKE CITY — As Bohemia Manor boys’ lacrosse inches closer and closer to the postseason, the Eagles currently find themselves in the mix of their Class 1A region.

Following Bo’s three-goal win against Elkton on Friday, Bohemia Manor is currently tied with Kent County for the top spot in its 1A East region. The Eagles and Trojans both hold a record of 4-6 with a winning percentage of 40%. The two teams met at the beginning of the season with Kent County getting the better half of Bo Manor.

Third-year Bo Manor head coach Bryan Butler, observing how far his program has come in his tenure, feels as though this marks a full-circle moment for his team and the program.

“When I first took over as head coach, we were a zero-win team,” Butler said. “Now being able to compete for the top of our division is truly a full circle moment and has shown how far we’ve come.”

After taking a 3-3 lead into the second quarter, Bo Manor outscored Elkton 5-2 in the second quarter to hold an 8-5 advantage. The pair of Susquehanna Division foes traded goals in the third quarter, followed by each team finding the back of the cage twice in the final 12 minutes.

Senior attack Alex Parke scored four of Bohemia Manor’s 11 goals, showcasing tremendous scoring abilities. As one of the eldest players on the team, Parke, like his head coach, realizes just how far his team has come.

“Being able to compete for the division means a lot to me as a senior especially and to us as a collective group,” Parke said. “In my time here we have come a long way and it feels great to pick up wins like this one.”

Senior attack Evan Michalak led the Elks in scoring with three goals. Matt Destefano and Boden Howell each added two goals for Elkton.

Elks Head Coach Colton Baughman believes that his team is showing signs of growth that will be beneficial come playoff time. Elkon concludes the regular season on Monday against Perryville.

“We played a good game overall but there are definitely some things that we can clean up before the playoffs,” Baughman said. “I saw a lot of grit and passion from my team and despite the loss I remain confident in this group.”
