Man accused of running over woman while speeding away
CHEROKEE VILLAGE, Ark. (KAIT) – A Cherokee Village man is behind bars after police said he ran over a woman while speeding away and left the scene. According to a news release from the Cherokee Village Police Department, at about 9:03 p.m., on Wednesday, May 29, Officer Dominic Fortner was called to the 100 block of Cherokee Road for a woman who had been run over.
Ash Flat woman dies after two-vehicle accident, 2 injured
An 87-year-old woman from Ash Flat has died after a two-vehicle accident in Highland over the Memorial Day weekend. The Arkansas State Police reported that on May 25, Geraldine W. Azil was a passenger in a southbound 2019 Buick on U.S. Highway 62/412 driven by 89-year-old Billy D. Azil, also of Ash Flat.
Nursing Graduates honored at Capping and Pinning Ceremony
Practical Nursing graduates at Ozarka College were honored Tuesday, May 7, at a Capping and Pinning Ceremony on the Melbourne campus. LPN students recognized at the event from the Ash Flat Campus were: Tayhlor Adams, Kylie Baxter, Rhonda Benton, Baylie Clark, Shelby Dodds, Shira Geisenberger, Keesha Giovingo, Andrea Jackson, Tonya Johnson, Jessica Larson, Taylor Rainwater, Jessica Semon, Haley Smith, and Ashley Wright.
Cave City District Accepting Applications
The Cave City School District is accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year including elementary custodian, elementary secretary, and bus drivers. The district also has open positions for elementary teacher and a specialized certified position of English Second Language Coordinator/A.B.C. Program Director. Those interested in the ESL/ABC position must currently have an active elementary teaching license with an ESL Endorsement and a degree in Early Childhood Education. Interested applicants can pick up an application at the Superintendent’s office at 711 North Main Street in Cave City. The school hopes to fill all positions by July 1, if possible.
