
A pedestrian who was reportedly lying on the roadway on northbound Interstate 5 in Chehalis was struck and killed by a semi-truck shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday.
Law enforcement had not released the pedestrian’s name as of Thursday morning.
The pedestrian was reportedly on the ground in the left lane of northbound I-5 just south of milepost 78 when a semi-truck, driven by a 27-year-old man from British Columbia, struck them, according to Washington State Patrol. The semi-truck then pulled off to the right shoulder. The semi-truck driver and his passenger, a 34-year-old man from British Columbia, were uninjured.
Washington State Patrol troopers were dispatched to the crash just before 12:50 a.m, on Thursday, Sept. 14.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The state patrol has determined no drugs or alcohol were involved.
