Experience Chehalis Hosting Annual Earth Day Clean-Up Event

Posted

With Earth Day approaching on Saturday, April 22, Experience Chehalis is preparing to host its annual Chehalis Earth Day Community Clean-Up event in partnership with the City of Chehalis and the Lewis County Historical Museum, according to a news release.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., volunteers will go to various locations throughout the city to clean up litter and debris in public areas, including parks and streets, and tend to the downtown flower beds. Anyone who volunteers is invited to participate for an hour or stay for the whole event.

Participants of all ages are welcome, but those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Gloves, garbage bags and other necessary equipment to safely and efficiently pick up trash will be provided.

"We are thrilled to be hosting the Chehalis Earth Day Community Clean-Up once again," Experience Chehalis Executive Director Annalee Tobey said in the release. "It's inspiring to see people come together to make our city a cleaner and more beautiful place to live."

Volunteers will also be given a raffle ticket with each bag of trash they collect for a chance to win downtown Chehalis business gift certificates and Earth Day art made by local artists. The drawing will take place at 2 p.m. and entrants need not be present to win.

Those interested in volunteering must call Tobey at 360-345-1738 to register. If registered by April 10, participants will receive a free Experience Chehalis Earth Day T-shirt.

Volunteer check-in will take place at the Lewis County Historical Museum located at 599 NW Front St. in downtown Chehalis.
