Chattanooga Lookouts Celebrate 3-2 Walk Off Win Over the Barons

(lookouts.com) Alex McGarry hit a walk-off double in the 10th inning to give the Lookouts the 3-2 win over the Birmingham Barons.

Before the game headed into extra-innings, the Lookouts were cruising. Starting pitcher Connor Phillips was lights out for the home team, only allowing one hit in seven innings of work while striking out 10 batters. This game marked the third time this season Phillips has recorded double-digit strikeouts. The righty is currently leading the league in strikeouts with 89 and only trails former Lookouts ace Andrew Abbott for the Minor League lead.

Birmingham Barons starter, Garrett Schoenle got off to a good start, no-hitting the Lookouts for the first four innings until Quincy McAfee broke it up with a solo home run. Chattanooga added their second run of the day on a wild pitch that scored Ivan Johnson.

The Barons managed to score their first run of the day in the eighth and tied the game up in the ninth on a Chris Shaw home run. Chattanooga wasn’t able to get anything going on the base paths in the bottom of the ninth but delivered in the 10th on McGarry’s double.
