Summer-time weekend events flood into Chattanooga and the surrounding areas this weekend

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Summer-time festivities in the South are starting off strong, as a plethora of different events are happening in and around the Chattanooga area this weekend.

Beginning with the River City Balloon Glow & Laser Show, people are invited to the Tennessee River Park from Friday to Sunday at 5p.m. to join in on the fun.
The night will conclude at 9 p.m. with a hot air balloon and laser show.
“It really gives people a chance to just get out and walk amongst them. It’s a very unique experience because like you said you may not see hot air balloons in Chattanooga every day. It really is a unique opportunity,” said Balloon Director, Vicki Fogue.
Heading just an hour south of Chattanooga, the town of Fort Payne, Alabama, will welcome the return of major country music festival, June Jam.
The Jam originated back in 1982 and is taking over the town once again, just 26 years later.
“Everybody welcomes the June Jam. We are so excited.” said Sonya Maynard, long time June Jam attendee.
The small Alabama town is home to original members of the Alabama band, who are the founders of the event meant to raise money for charities.
“We have wanted Alabama to bring it back because it means a lot to the city of Fort Payne. Alabama actually put us on the map- because they’re such a good country group- it put Fort Payne on the map,” said the Mayor of Fort Payne, Brian Baine.
The festival was famous for bringing some of the biggest names in country music together for charity.
June Jam festivities will also last throughout the weekend- ending on Sunday night.
Also this weekend, the City of LaFayette will welcome the Annual Honeybee Festival.
It will begin Saturday, from 9 a.m until about 10:30 p.m..
Country music stars- Matt Stell and Drake Milligan- will headline the event.
It will feature plenty of food, vendors, inflatables and more.
Aside from the above events, here are plenty of others going on within the area.

The weekly Nightfall series will continues every Friday night at 7 p.m..

Saturday at 6:30 p.m., Reflection Riding will host the Campfire Concert Series and, the 3rd Annual Auto Show will take place on Sunday at 6 p.m..
Riverbend begins Friday and ends Sunday as well.
