A Chattanooga man faces several charges after police say he tried to steal a car dealership vehicle he said he wanted to 'test drive,' and hit several other vehicles as he tried to get away.
Chattanooga Police arrested 31-year-old Jamale Marquise Porch shortly after the incident on Monday.
Police tell us at about 1 p.m. Porch entered the Integrity Buick GMC / Integrity Cadillac dealership at 6025 International Drive.
Employees said Porch told them he wanted to give a vehicle a test drive.
While they were making a copy of his identification, which police said turned out to be his mother's, the workers told officers Porch took the keys off of the table and ran out to the vehicle.
Porch 'struck several vehicles while leaving the lot,' police tell us.
Officers obtained warrants for Porch's arrest, determined Porch's identity, and arrested him later in the day.
Porch now faces these charges:
- Theft of property over $60,000
- Identity theft
- Reckless endangerment
- Reckless driving
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- Possession of a firearm with intent to go armed.
