Donations needed for men’s health-oriented outreach

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Salvation Army’s Echelon group is asking the public for donations for their Bacon and Boxers event.

They are hosting this event Thursday, March 30, from 12 to 2 p.m. It will be at the Salvation Army’s 614 Corps Shelter at 800 McCallie Avenue.

Echelon Chattanooga’s event is meant to supply homeless men with necessities, such as undergarments, socks, hygiene items, undershirts and first-aid essentials. These items are highly requested but not frequently donated, according to the Salvation Army.

Those donating can drop off items at the Chattanooga Area Command at 822 McCallie Avenue. They accept drop-offs on weekdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. You can also send items to the Salvation Army through their online Walmart registry.

Those attending the event will also receive a meal, provided by Mission BBQ.

The 2023 Bacon and Boxers event is their fifth annual men’s health-oriented outreach event.

Echelon Chattanooga promotes and supports The Salvation Army through networking, events, volunteer projects and fundraisers. Find more information at csarmy.org/echelon.
