Chattanooga Police respond to suspicious lurker that resulted in a shooting

Involved officers have been placed on administrative leave

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Chattanooga Police responded to a call this morning that resulted in a shooting.

The department received a call about a suspicious person lurking around a home.

Police arrived to the 800 block of Ashland Terrace, where they encountered an armed suspect.

He was ordered multiple times to drop his weapon and not to touch it.

While officers were taking the suspect into custody, he reached for his weapon, and in turn, was shot by police.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No officers were injured during the arrest.

Involved officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is a standard practice in officer involved shootings.

The investigation is on-going and no additional details are currently available.
