UPDATE (March 29th):
The TBI says they're continuing to investigate an incident where Chattanooga officer shot at a suspect Sunday morning.
Chattanooga police responded to the 800 block of Ashland Terrace Sunday on a report of a man attempting to break into vehicles.
Officers found him nearby and attempted to detain him.
The TBI says initial reports say he was being given commands from officers when he reached for a knife on the ground.
Two officers fired tasers at the man, and one officer fired his weapon, striking the subject, according to the TBI.
They say the man was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No officers were injured during the incident.
EARLIER (March 26th):
A call about a suspicious person led to a police shooting early Sunday morning in Red Bank.
According to the Chattanooga Police Department, police received a call around 8:30 about someone lurking around homes near Ashland Terrace.
When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a man who was armed with a weapon.
He was ordered multiple times to drop it and not touch it, according to police.
Also according to police, as officers tried to take the suspect into custody he began reaching for his weapon, at which point he was shot by police.
The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No officers were injured during the arrest.
All involved officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard practice in officer involved shootings.
The department says the investigation is on-going.
