Boy injured after shooting himself

The 12-year-old's injuries are not life-threatening

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police said a 12-year-old boy shot himself Friday.

It happened after 4 p.m. in a small shopping plaza on Wilcox Road.

Officers said they found the boy in a vehicle with a gunshot wound.

He admitted to officers that he shot himself while his mother was in the store shopping.

Emergency personnel took him to a local hospital where they treated his injury.

Police also said his injuries are not life-threatening.
