A family in Chattanooga have some good Samaritan passersby to thank for getting them out of their burning home.
The fire at a home on the 2400 block of North Chamberlain Avenue broke out at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD).
At first, firefighters thought people may have been trapped inside the home, and they called in more units.
But firefighters on the scene learned everyone got out safely, thanks to the help of those good Samaritans, whom CFD says knocked on the home's doors to alert the family of the fire.
Crews found heavy smoke coming from the attic, and worked both inside and outside the home to put out the flames.
CFD says the fire caused 'significant' damage, and investigators say the fire was accidental.
