Update on man who jumped out of ambulance

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police released an update on the man who jumped out of an ambulance on Sunday and was hit by a car on I-24.

They identified the man as James Moore.

CPD said an ambulance was taking him to a local hospital, but he “became combative.”

They said the ambulance pulled to the shoulder of I-24 in an attempt to calm and secure Moore.

He then “suddenly bolted from the ambulance,” police said.

He tried to flee, jumping the concrete median of the interstate. Police said Moore ran across the westbound lanes. At this time, a car hit him.

CPD said a semi truck then crashed into the car that hit Moore.

Moore later passed away due to these injuries, according to Chattanooga Police.
