Warriors basketball worked through early shooting troubles to take down the Chatfield Gophers and advance to the section quarterfinals by a score of 84-40.

At home, Caledonia Area would face off against Chatfield on Feb. 29 for the first round of the Section 1AA tournament. Caledonia would win the tip, but the offense would take a bit of the first half to get rolling. Shots would not fall from the perimeter and the battles were tough near the hoop, but the Warriors defense held tough.

The score would be 15-10 at 12:30 in the half, and as the time kept rolling, the Warriors offense would heat up. Mason King (No. 5) would begin to warm up past the three point line, and the high percentage shots began to drop. The score would advance to 45-25 with two minutes left in the half, and the half would end with a score of 51-25.

The second half would see the Warriors continue to roll with the score advancing to 59-25 at 14:30, and then 76-30 at 8:30. The reserves would come in, and would finish out the game by a score of 84-40.

A milestone to celebrate for the Warriors was Lewis Doyle surpassing 1,000 points in his high school career on Feb. 28. Congratulations to Lewis Doyle.

Next up for the Warriors will be Cotter Schools/Hope Lutheran at the Mayo Civic Arena on Wednesday, Mar. 6 at 6 p.m.
