Tony Elliott and the Cavaliers are officially on a recruiting roll. UVA added its second verbal commit of the day and fourth in the last three days as three-star cornerback Jaylin Lackey announced his commitment to the Virginia football recruiting class of 2024 in a social media post on Wednesday night.

A 6'0", 185-pound cornerback from South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Georgia, Lackey became the second Georgia native to commit to UVA just on Wednesday, joining defensive end Chase Morrison (Roswell, GA), who pledged to the Cavaliers just hours before Lackey did the same. Lackey is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports as well as the No. 67-ranked cornerback in the class of 2024 and the No. 93 overall recruit in the state of Georgia.

Lackey received offers from nearly 30 programs, including Kentucky, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, JMU, Liberty, Appalachian State, South Florida, Troy and others. Virginia jumped in with an offer on May 24th and Lackey immediately made plans to take an official visit to UVA this past weekend, visiting along with a dozen other top recruiting targets for the Cavaliers in the class of 2024.

It seems Tony Elliott and the UVA coaching staff got the job done this weekend. In just three days after hosting those visits, Virginia has already landed four verbal commitments, as Lackey joins offensive lineman Grant Ellinger, who committed on Monday, wide receiver Christian Zachary, who committed on Tuesday, and defensive end Chase Morrison, who committed earlier on Wednesday. Lackey was scheduled to take a visit to Minnesota later in June, but decided that visit wasn't necessary after this weekend and made it official with the Cavaliers on Wednesday night.
