1 killed, 3 hospitalized in Central Ave. wreck: Medic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – One person was killed and three others were taken to the hospital in a crash on Central Ave. this weekend, Charlotte Medic said.

Officials said the victim, later identified as Kendall Ross, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene. One other victim had life-threatening injuries and had to be cut out from their vehicle, and two others were treated for minor injuries.

An initial investigation revealed Alejandro Gomez, 23, was driving impaired when he struck Ross’ vehicle, forcing it to strike a power pole before it was wedged into a bank, according to the police report.

He faces multiple charges including felony death by vehicle, reckless driving, and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
