CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – A juvenile accused of shooting and killing a tobacco store employee in January will be tried as an adult, according to court records.

In Kanawha County court Tuesday, the case against Bre’Juan Williams-Hampton, 14, was changed from juvenile to adult status. Williams-Hampton is charged with murder.

The charges stem from the death of 19-year-old Caden Martin, who was killed on Charleston’s West Side after being shot at the Tobacco and Pipe Shop on 7th Avenue on Jan. 30.

In February, a second 14-year-old was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery, according to the Charleston Police Department. That teenager has not been publicly identified as their case is still in juvenile court.

Both 14-year-olds were also charged with malicious wounding regarding another incident that happened a week prior at the 800 block of Woodward Drive. A 44-year-old woman was shot in the face while walking with her boyfriend , the Charleston Police Department told WOWK 13 News in February.
