Co-defendants in Charleston murder case denied bond

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) —
Two people charged in connection to a fatal shooting in Charleston's West Side have been denied bond in Kanawha County Circuit Court.

Tyran Gray and Cortni Stovall were denied bond in a hearing Thursday, according to Judge Carrie Webster’s office.
The co-defendants pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder of 49-year-old Norman Sweeny who was killed Sept. 9 in the 500 block of Wyoming Street.
Investigators said they believe Stovall was driving a car for Gray before and after he shot Sweeny in the face.

Trial for the case is set to begin Monday, Aug. 14.
