The West Virginia Grind are in their first season in the Basketball League. After an inauspicious 0-5 start to the inaugural season, the Grind turned things around.
West Virginia is now playoff bound after posting a 15-9 record.
In the final game of the regular season, the Grind hosted Kalamazoo at the Walker Convocation Center. The home team came up short, falling to the Galaxy 107-104.
The Galaxy’s Stanley Williams was tough to stop, leading all scorers with 35 points.
Former Marshall star Rondale Watson led the charge for West Virginia with a team-high 31 points.
Grind will look ahead to play Toledo on Tuesday during a one-and-done first round playoff game against Glass City.
Eyewitness Sports caught up with Watson after the match to discuss the postseason.
“It’s always good to play in front of your home fans,” Watson said. “They’ve seen you turn into a man and watched that process. It’s fun and I enjoy it. I wish we could’ve had a better outcome tonight, but we’ll get the next one.“
