More travelers passed through the doors at Charleston International Airport (CHS) during the Memorial Day holiday in 2023 than ever before, airport officials announced Wednesday.
According to CHS, between Thursday, May 25 and Tuesday, May 30, 60,541 people traveled through the airport. That's 7,692 more people than in 2022 over the same time period.
Additionally, that beats 2019's pre-pandemic total of 46,066 travelers over the six-day stretch.
“Our airline partners are seeing strong bookings and that’s a sign that it’s going to be a busy summer,” said Elliott Summey, Executive Director and CEO at CHS. “Several of our airlines have increased the number of daily flights and are flying larger aircraft. That means more people have more choices when flying to and from Charleston.”
