Illinois resident arrested in Riley County on offender registration violations
A Charleston woman was arrested early Friday morning in Manhattan. 45-year-old Amanda McMillon of Charleston, Illinois was booked into Riley County Jail on four counts for violating the offender registration act. McMillon remains jailed on a $5,000 bond.

In February 2023 the on-call team with the Charleston Fire Department in Illinois was called to assist in a rural incident just a few towns away. A farm worker was trapped in a 100,000-bushel bin, up to his neck in grain. Coincidently it occurred during the state’s Grain Bin Safety Awareness Week.

Man Succumbs to Injuries After Striking Telephone Pole in Solo Crash
VILLA GROVE, IL – In a heart-wrenching incident late Friday night on North County Road 1450 East, a car left its lane around 11:30 p.m. and collided with a telephone pole. According to Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports, the vehicle’s sole occupant, 72-year-old Kenneth W. Clodfelder of Villa Grove, was immediately transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
