Fire destroys a home in Scio Township

An early morning fire on October 5, left a Scio Township home a total loss. The occupants, however, were able to get out safely with no injuries reported. Scio Township Fire Chief Andrew Houde said the department was dispatched to a reported garage fire at 1:11 a.m. that morning. Houde said the home was occupied by seven members of a family. The call was to a home on Westview Way.

Police investigate after road rage incident leads to shooting on I-94 in Detroit

(CBS DETROIT) - Michigan State Police are investigating after a driver pulled out a gun and shot at another vehicle after they were involved in a rear-end crash on I-94 in Detroit. Police received reports of a hit-and-run crash, and the non-at-fault driver said he had been rear-ended, with minor damage to his vehicle. After the driver was rear-ended, the at-fault driver fled the scene.According to MSP, the non-at-fault driver then followed the vehicle that hit him, caught up, and took a photo of his license plate. Then he pulled alongside the at-fault driver and started to yell, telling him to pull over.Police say the at-fault driver pulled out a gun and fired once, striking the front passenger side door. He then fled the scene. No one was injured. MSP continues to investigate.

Beach shooting suspect pleads guilty to attempted murder

MONROE COUNTY, MI – A man accused of shooting another man multiple times during an argument at a Monroe County beach has taken a plea. Shaun Johnathan Prato, 26, of Warren, pleaded guilty, Sept. 16, to one felony count of assault with intent to murder in connection with a shooting that occurred May 22 at Milan Beach in Milan Township, court records show.
