One woman was arrested, and deputies are searching for one man after the Yolo County Regional SWAT team surrounded a residence in Clarksburg. Yolo Food Bank ramps up efforts as California reopens

No one could have predicted how well-timed the new Yolo Food Bank facility was. The Yolo Food Bank celebrated the grand opening of its new, $9.5 million, 42,000-square-foot facility at 233 Harter Ave. in Woodland in August 2019. Its staff were still getting settled into the new space when the coronavirus pandemic hit, bringing with it a slew of new challenges related to the food bank’s mission to end food insecurity across the county.

Yolo County delivering COVID vaccines to all areas

Yolo County is now offering a free “call-to-order” COVID-19 vaccines for anyone within the county. Previously, the program was only offered in specific cities on specific days. The county will now be offering appointments to vaccinate people at their homes or place of work regardless of their location, according to a statement from Yolo County Communications Coordinator Frank Schneegas.

Weapons Violation: A traffic stop was conducted on June 11 at 6:53 a.m. at Main Street and Elm Street. The driver, and sole occupant of vehicle, was Mark Ortiz, a 24-year-old Sacramento resident. Ortiz was on Sacramento County Probation for carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. Ortiz was also a validated gang member in Sacramento County. A probation search was conducted. Underneath the driver’s seat was a loaded firearm with a 15-round magazine. The gun was polymer and did not have a serial number. Ortiz was arrested for various gun offenses, including: felon in possession of firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, and probation violations. The case was forwarded to Woodland PD Gang Task Force.

CAPAY (CBS13) – A parolee is facing an attempted murder charge for a shooting that happened at a bed and breakfast in Yolo County last week, authorities said on Friday. On the evening of June 10, a man was shot in the thigh at the Capay Bed and Breakfast along Highway 16 between Brooks and Esparto, west of Woodland, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office said. The shooting victim was released from the hospital the next day.
