Dayton woman identified as victim killed in Colerain Twp. crash

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP — A Dayton woman was killed and three others were injured after a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer in Colerain Township Saturday. Police said the fatal crash happened around 12:01 p.m. on Hamilton Avenue at the I-275 overpass and involved both the tractor trailer and a sedan, according to our news partners at WCPO in Cincinnati.

Man dies in foam accident

WILMINGTON — One person died an the incident Sunday at the Wilmington Air Park in which an automatic fire suppression system deployed a huge mass of foam just before 2 p.m. Tim Law, 55, an employee of Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services (AMES), where he was a production supervisor in the heavy maintenance’s department, died in the incident. He was an employee there for one and a half years.

Lynn Schaner is the 2022 Garden Club Member of the Year. She joined Goshen Garden Club 47 years ago as a young mother for a way to do something for herself. Lynn followed her mother, her two grandmothers and an aunt’s footsteps in the same club. Even after 47 years she is still excited to enter specimens and arrangements at the Champaign County Fair Flower Shows.

Englewood cafe offering lemonade flights for non-coffee drinkers

Cafe 19 in Englewood is taking coffee flights to the next level by offering a special flight for non-coffee drinkers 🍋. “We started our lemonade flights as an option for non-coffee drinkers,” said Cafe 19 co-owner Dillon Allen. “We have had several people who have come through with groups to try our flights, but they don’t like coffee. So, this was our solution for those who still want to be involved.”

Blossom Juicy Bar opens fifth location in Dayton area

Blossom Juicy Bar, a bubble tea shop with multiple locations across the Dayton area, has opened its fifth location at 2607 Wilmington Pike. “We opened our new location in hopes of reaching more people in the suburbs, so they would not have to go so far out to the mall or other areas to grab bubble tea,” said Oliver Santos, store manager at the new shop.

Humane Society of Greater Dayton rescues 43 animals from Germantown farm

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) -- Agents from the Humane Society of Greater Dayton discovered 43 malnourished and injured farm animals at a property in Germantown. A news release from the Humane Society described the conditions as, "Living in deplorable conditions with little to no fresh food. Water that looked more like sludge than anything suitable for drinking. Stalls nearly 3 feet deep in fecal matter."

Intensive bat survey coming to Five Rivers MetroParks this month

MIAMI VALLEY — For the first time in Ohio, an intensive ecological survey into bats is coming to parts of Five Rivers MetroParks this month. The survey, referred to as a “bat blitz,” will look at bat species in multiple MetroParks and will include a number of researchers from organizations across Ohio and Indiana.

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) -- It's time to adopt your duck. The 19th annual Rubber Duck Regatta benefits the kids and adults served by United Rehabilitation Services. The regatta will be held Sept. 30. The program begins at 8:15 p.m. and will include a virtual duck drop, which was popularized during the coronavirus pandemic. The event will also include a choice of movies, "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" or "Hook."

Coffee with a purpose, Ohio's Coffee Hub making an impact with delicious coffee and acts of service.

I met a group of fellow art lovers, at a new location. The Beavercreek, Ohio Coffee Hub at 3375 Dayton-Xenia road. We set up our art supplies on the picnic table shaded by trees, next to the Coffee Hub. I noticed a few people had went inside the coffee shop to get drinks, before I arrived. I started on my art project and made conversation. While my sculpture was drying, I thought I would go indoors and check out the Coffee Hub.
