Yakima homeowner shoots at trespassing burglar on the run

POMONA, Wash. — A Yakima County homeowner fired at a burglar’s getaway vehicle after she caught him hiding out in her garage. According to a press release issued by the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner on the 1900-block of E Pomona Rd called 9-1-1 at 3:16 p.m. on July 30 while she held the burglar at gunpoint. The suspect then fled the garage and hopped into a commercial “Snap-On Tools” truck, which had been reported stolen from the City of Yakima roughly a half-hour earlier.

Assault charges filed against gang member accused of stealing woman's car at gunpoint

A 31-year-old Sunnyside man has been charged with first-degree assault after police said he stole a woman’s car at gunpoint and threatened to kill her and her family. Prosecutors also charged Ricardo Cerda Casares in Yakima County Superior Court earlier this week with second-degree assault, motor vehicle theft and felony harassment. All charges are listed as domestic violence, court documents state.

WAPATO, WA- Two vehicles were involved in a collision on the 3900 block of Yakima Valley Highway this afternoon. A 2002 Hyundai Sonata with a single occupant was heading west on Yakima Valley Highway. For unknown reasons the driver of the Hyundai crossed the double yellow lines into the eastbound lane of the highway. The Hyundai struck a 2005 GMC Yukon that had two people in it.

(YAKIMA, WA) For bargain hunters there may be no better target than gas, with the cheapest station in the Yakima area offering savings of $0.60 per gallon. According to a survey by GasBuddy, Yakima Ave. Quick Stop at 702 W Yakima Ave was the cheapest station in the area, with regular listed at $3.39 per gallon at the pumps Wednesday. That was compared to Chevron at 1001 N 16Th Ave, where a gallon of regular was selling for $3.99.

1 dead, 2 injured in a head-on collision on Yakima Valley Highway (Yakima, WA)

On Thursday afternoon, a head-on accident claimed life of a man near the intersection of Yakima Valley Highway and Donald Wapato Road. The fatal incident took place just before 2:30pm. in which two vehicles were involved. According to the officers, a man in a silver Hyundai was traveling west towards Yakima when he went into opposing lanes of traffic and struck a Yukon SUV head on. The driver of the Hyundai died as a result of the crash.
