Yakima County Judges Elisabeth Tutsch and Jeff Swan formally sworn in as COVID restrictions ease

They have already presided over trials and numerous hearings, but Yakima County Superior Court’s two newest judges were formally welcomed to the court Friday. Judges Elisabeth Tutsch and Jeff Swan were helped into their black judge’s robes by family as their fellow judges, friends and many of Yakima County’s lawyers looked on during their investiture ceremony at the county courthouse.

Teen Arrested After Sunnyside Cinco De Mayo Shooting

Five people were shot during the annual Cinco de Mayo festival in Sunnyside and ever since police have been investigating the crime. On Wednesday Sunnyside Police announced the arrest of a 13-year-old boy in connection with the gang related shooting. The teen is being held in the Yakima County Juvenile Justice Center on five counts of first-degree assault. His bail has been set at $500,000. The shooting forced officials to cancel the three day celebration earlier this month.

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. (TCD) -- A 13-year-old male was taken into custody this week for allegedly opening fire at a rival gang during a local Cinco de Mayo festival. The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the juvenile was recently booked into the Yakima County Juvenile Justice Center on five counts of first-degree assault. The boy, whose name was not released, is reportedly a member of the Sureño gang.
