Bailey Hofland of Sundance Signs with Dickinson St. for Track

Sundance super athlete Bailey Hofland will be headed to Dickinson State to continue her track and field career. Hofland took 2nd place at the 2022 2A State Outdoor Meet back in May in the discus with a toss of 116 feet 5 inches. She also took 2nd at the 202 State Meet in that event at 106-8. Hofland took 4th in the 2A shot this past season with a throw of 32 feet, 10 and a half inches and in 2021, she placed 5th at state going 32-3.

Sheridan Golf Team Places 19th at National Invitational

A group of golfers from Sheridan competed in the High School National Invitational Tournament that was held at the Pinehurst collection of courses in North Carolina. The Sheridan ladies ended up taking 19th place as a team at +204. Individually for Sheridan, Samantha Spielman who was the 4A state champion back in 2020 finishing 99th overall with rounds of 81-87 and 79. Gabi Wright took 137th as she carded rounds of 88-85 and 88. Kate Jorgenson who took 8th place at the 4A state tournament finished 152nd as she shot 90-93 and 86. Shebi Gardner ended up 184th after rounds of 96-94 and 97. Libby Gardner took 186th after she carded rounds of 92-98 and 98.

Sheridan’s Texas Tanner Selected the Gatorade Wyoming Boys Track and Field Player of the Year

Sheridan thrower Texas Tanner was announced as the 2021-22 Gatorade Wyoming Boys Track and Field Player of the Year on Wednesday. In its 37th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Tanner is the second straight thrower to receive this honor. He is the first Gatorade Wyoming Boys Track and Field Player of the Year from Sheridan High School.

Campbell County’s Remar Pitter Joins UW Track Program

Campbell County track athlete Remar Pitter will get a chance to compete at the Division I level in college as he will join the crew at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Pitter repeated as the 4A state champion in the long jump with a leap of 22-8.25. He won the state title in the event in 2021 going 23-00.25. Pitter also competed in the high jump and at the 4A outdoor meet, he finished 5th at 6-2 and as a junior, he took 8th at 5-10.

Jackson’s Charlie Hoelscher Wanted the Gatorade Award for Boys Soccer

The Gatorade Company recently handed out its Wyoming Boys Soccer Player of the Year Award to Jackson’s Charlie Hoelscher. WyoPreps’ David Settle had a recent video visit with Mr. Hoelscher to get his reaction to receiving this honor, what it means to him, describing how he felt his soccer season went and more. Cody Phelps of Pinedale Inks With Western Wyoming Wrestling

Cody Phelps will go down as one of the finest wrestlers the State of Wyoming has ever produced. Phelps will be joining the Western Wyoming wrestling program in Rock Springs and will bring some very impressive credentials. Phelps is one of 26 guys to win four state championships in his prep career in Wyoming and did not lose a match in either his junior or senior seasons. His overall record at Pinedale was an astounding 194-5.

Ryan Clapper of Southeast Commits to Chadron State

Southeast speedster Ryan Clapper will be taking his impressive skills over the Border to Chadron State in Nebraska. Clapper had a tremendous season in 1A track with a state championship in the 200-meter dash in 21.79. That mark also set the 1A record and the school record. He also won a gold medal at the state outdoor meet in the 100-meter dash in 10.98. Clapper took 2nd in the 400 in 50.19 and his Cyclone 4x100 relay team won the 1A state championship in 43.35, which set a class and school record.

Wyoming Legion Baseball Scoreboard: June 27 – July 4, 2022

American Legion Baseball teams across the Cowboy State have reached the 13th week of the 2022 season. This means the season also is playing into its fourth month, July. Cheyenne is hosting seven out-of-state teams for their annual Firecracker tournament, while three teams are in Billings, Montana. Others are heading to tournaments in Idaho, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Utah.

Allison Brummell of Torrington Signs with Chadron St. for Track

Torrington track athlete Allison Brummell will continue her career at the collegiate level at Chadron State in Nebraska. Brummell's specialty is the triple jump and she won the 3A outdoor state championship last month in Casper with a leap of 35 feet 6 inches. She also took 8th place in the long jump at 15-6.5 and 9th in the high jump as she cleared 4-8. Brummell took 2nd in the triple jump at the state indoor championship at 35 6.75 and placed 8th in the high jump at 4-10.
