Lester Corwin Johnson passed away on May 30, 2022 in Greene, Iowa. He was born on November 17, 1930, in Albert City, Iowa. Les attended school in Albert City, graduating in 1948. Following graduation, Les enrolled at the University of Iowa, attending classes at Iowa until entering the U.S. Air Force in January 1951, serving during the Korean War. Les was honorably discharged in January 1955. He then re-enrolled again at the University of Iowa and graduated with a BSC degree from the College of Commerce in January 1956.

Patricia Elaine (Range) Hendrix passed away from complications due to cancer on May 7, 2022 just 1 day shy of her 65th birthday in Bentonville, AR. Patricia was born to Pete and Barb Range in Clarion, Iowa in 1957. She grew up in Clarion surrounded by her large family with 5 siblings and many extended family in the area. Pat, as she was known, graduated from Clarion High School in 1975. She went on to marry Mike Bierl and they had one child together, Heather. Pat lived in Clarion until she married Neil Hendrix and moved to Loma Linda, CA. They had 2 children together, Rocky and Josh.

Third Street almost done; Highway 69 work drags on

Two blocks of Third Street NE were paved in one continuous motion on June 1. A giant paving machine leveled and formed curbs using 51 truckloads of concrete. Driveways and sidewalks will be poured June 8-10, with dirt work and sodding done starting June 13, weather permitting. The street should be open later in June.

Supervisors hear about wellness program

During a short meeting of the Wright County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, the board heard an update about the county’s Wellness Plan. Wellness committee member Jeremy Abbas noted that employees are on track for online assessments but behind on physicals. He also discussed some concerns from the state regarding HIPAA and how it will affect the reports the county receives about employees.

Supervisors hear about pipeline again

At the Monday meeting of the Wright County Board of Supervisors, the group heard again from Summit Carbon Solution pipeline officials. Summit representative Kaylee Langrell did most of the talking. She again went over the goals of the project. She noted that they hope to start construction late next summer. She added that the project will result in an investment of $66 million in Wright County, including $2.5 million in property taxes from Summit.
