Former Auburn Music Teacher Sentenced for Raping Elementary School Student

A former Auburn elementary school teacher convicted of raping a student was sentenced to 18 to 20 years in prison, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office said Friday. Stephen Jaszek, 66, of South Hadley, was first arrested in 2018. Earlier this month a judge found him guilty of two counts of aggravated rape of a child by a mandated reporter, two counts of aggravated rape of a child and one count of aggravated rape of a child under the age of 14 by a mandated reporter.

Man indicted on murder charge in deadly stabbing of 18-year-old in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG, Mass. — A Fitchburg man has been indicted on a murder charge in connection with the deadly stabbing of an 18-year-old in March. Prosecutors say Jose Ramos Solis, 22, stabbed Gadiel Maria during a fight in the area of Spruce and Salem streets. The fight happened shortly before midnight on March 18, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s office.
