The mayor of White, just outside Cartersville in Bartow County, has died in a motocross accident, according to WBHF Radio.
Perry Bell, who elected mayor earlier this year and took office in June, "succumbed to injuries sustained while competing in an event at the Lazy River Motocross held just outside of Dalton," the radio station reports. Gary Crisp, Mayor Pro Tem, confirmed the report. The accident happened Saturday morning.
We have notes into Lazy River as well as the Georgia State Patrol (assuming it is investigating the accident).
Lazy River is the site of a two days of competition this weekend.
Bell was one of three candidates for mayor on the May 24 ballot. He received 53 of the 129 ballots cast, or 41%. He took office in June.
