Local News Briefs: Two injured in crash

At 4:50 p.m. on July 25, a 2005 Toyota Camry driven eastbound on Ohio 265 by a 16-year-old Salesville resident struck the rear of an eastbound 1995 Geo Prizm driven by Robert Cooley, 69, Cambridge, as it slowed to make a left turn onto Township Road 452. Cooley and a passenger, Robert Cooley, 42, Lore City, were transported by Old Washington EMS to Southeastern Med with minor injuries. The teen driver was not injured. All of the motorists were wearing safety belts. The vehicles sustained moderate to extensive damage. The teen was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.

Wheeling Feeling Chili Cook-Off To Heat Up Heritage Port Aug. 7

Combine one part live music, two parts festive atmosphere and a dash of a car cruise for the perfect Wheeling Feeling Chili Cook-off recipe. The annual event is set for noon to 6 p.m., rain or shine, Saturday, Aug. 7 at Wheeling’s Heritage Port, and organizers are aiming for the biggest and best ever. The event is free and open to the public, but “taster” cups for chili and beverages will be sold by the United Way.

Updates underway at Shadow Lake Park

WOODSFIELD — The new owners of Shadow Lake RV Park and Campground are working to revamp the 96-acre property and also give back to the community in the process. Lynn and Cynthia Parker purchased the grounds in September 2020 and have been working to update the facilities ever since. The park, which is open year-round, contains nine cabins, full hookup and primitive camping sites, three ponds, a lake, and multiple trails. Lynn Parker said the park features numerous amenities including a pool, showers, on-site laundry, horseshoe pits, tennis courts and fishing.

WHEELING — The Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum is expanding its customer base with an event this weekend, now seeking to involve man’s best friend in their fun. The inaugural Dog Days of Summer event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this weekend, with several activities planned to accommodate the furry friends who are welcome.
