A Texas nurse who allegedly caused a fatal multi-vehicle accident in Los Angeles has been in 13 previous accidents, authorities say. Nicole Lorraine Linton, 37, has been charged with six counts of murder and five counts of gross vehicular manslaughter after last Thursday's accident. Prosecutors say that Linton was driving up to 90 miles per hour when she ran a red light shortly after 1:30 p.m. She allegedly crashed into at least six vehicles.

One person was killed in a multi-car crash involving a semi truck in Burbank early Wednesday morning. The crash, which reportedly occurred at around 8:20 a.m., blocked traffic in the area for hours as investigators surveyed the scene. Several lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway were impacted throughout the morning due to an extensive amount of debris and gasoline spillage on the road. The victims identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin. The No. 4 and 5 lanes remained blocked through 11 a.m. 

Authorities are trying to determine whether Linton was supposed to be taking medications and if she was using them at the time of the crash, law enforcement sources told The Times.

A person was found dead inside of a burnt out apartment that caught fire in Boyle Heights Wednesday morning.Los Angeles Fire Department crews were dispatched to the scene of the fire, which reportedly broke out at around 4:30 a.m. on S. Clarence Street. When they arrived, they found the apartment engulfed in flames, though they were able to quickly contain the blaze in just over 20 minutes. The flames were limited to just the upper apartment unit. As they searched the apartment, firefighters located the body and pronounced the person dead at the scene, reportedly that of a 68-year-old woman.There was no additional information available on the victim. Investigators were unsure if she remained sleeping throughout the fire. No surrounding structures sustained damage, and the cause remained under investigation.This is a developing story. Fire crews were able to extinguish a fire burning through an abandoned building in Hollywood Wednesday Afternoon.The fire department responded to the 1400 block of Las Palmas Avenue just before 1 p.m.Views from SKY2 showed smoke billowing from the area. The abandoned building was said to have been burned in a previous fire and was said to be missing its roof. Authorities said most of the damage seen Wednesday was caused by the previous fire.Crews were able to completely extinguish the flames in about 20 minutes.It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.

Authorities sought the public’s help Wednesday to find the hit-and-run driver responsible for killing a pedestrian as he crossed a street in the South Los Angeles area. The man, in his 40s, was injured around 9:35 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway and 85th Street, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
