Pedestrian pronounced dead after early morning McMinnville crash

MCMINVILLE, Ore. (KPTV) – A pedestrian in McMinnville was killed Wednesday morning as pedestrian deaths across the state continue to rise. Both McMinnville Police and Fire Department responded to NE Riverside Drive and NE Alpha Drive shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday on reports of a crash involving a pedestrian. Emergency personnel said despite lifesaving efforts, a 61-year-old Amity man was pronounced dead on the scene. His name is not being released until family has been notified.

Climber seriously injured after falling into Mt. Hood fumarole

MT HOOD, Ore. — An Idaho man was seriously injured after he fell into the Devils Kitchen fumarole on Mt. Hood Wednesday evening, deputies said. The climber, identified as 28-year-old George Stevens, started for the summit in the later hours of the day with two friends. On their descent, they reached the steep Hogsback snow ridge where the surface was slick with ice, according to the Hood River County Sheriff's Office.

Oregon driver who crashed into Keizer house, killed one resident and paralyzed another had 3 past DUIs

An alleged drunk driver drove his pick-up truck through the side of a house in Keizer on Jan. 22, killing one woman and paralyzing a man. The driver, who police identified as Andrew Modine, 41, of Keizer, has been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol three times in the past. At the time of the crash, he was serving a five-year probation for an incident that led to his brother’s death.

Eugene man rescued from Mount Hood after equipment failure

MOUNT HOOD — Crews rescued a 27-year-old Eugene man last Saturday after his climbing gear failed on Mount Hood. According to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, Iain Moses called for help just before 9:50 a.m. and told authorities that he wouldn’t be able to make it down the mountain.

Independence man killed in crash on Highway 18 near Grand Ronde

POLK COUNTY, Ore. — An Independence man was killed after a crash on Highway 18 in Polk County, according to Oregon State Police. On Monday at around 7:50 p.m., troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 18 near milepost 15 west of Grand Ronde.
