Driver who crashed semitruck into Wood County home found dead in Maumee River

GRAND RAPIDS, Ohio — Wood County sheriff's deputies have recovered a body from the Maumee River confirmed to be the driver in a recent truck-into-house collision. Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said Wednesday morning at 7:51, the semitrailer truck hit multiple vehicles before crashing into the southwest corner of a home on the 2900 block of West Second Street near Wapakoneta Road in Grand Rapids.

A body found in the Maumee River this morning has been identified as Maurice Watson, 45, of Edina, Minnesota, according to Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn. Watson was the driver of a semi truck that drove into a house this morning in Grand Rapids. He then reportedly took off running toward the Maumee River.
