25-year-old woman killed after being t-boned by semi-truck near Marengo

A 25-year-old Woodstock woman was killed Wednesday after she pulled out in front of a semi-truck, causing a four-vehicle crash near Marengo, the sheriff’s office said. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts responded around 4:38 p.m. Wednesday to Route 23 and River Road in unincorporated Marengo for a multiple-vehicle crash with injuries.

MARENGO, Ill. (WIFR) - A 25-year-old Woodstock woman has died following a four-vehicle crash in unincorporated Marengo on Wednesday afternoon. Just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, members of McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Marengo Police Department, McHenry County Conservation District Police Department, Marengo Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District and Woodstock Fire Protection District responded to a crash involving a semi-tractor trailer and three other vehicles.

Elgin police are searching for a man who robbed a gas station at gunpoint Thursday morning. Police responded to the 700 block of Walnut Avenue about 6:40 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery after a man armed with what appeared to be a handgun entered the Marathon gas station and demanded money from the clerk. The thief took the money and left. The clerk was not injured.

A state appeals court has denied a new trial for a man convicted of murdering his ex-wife in her Gurnee-area home amid a bitter child custody dispute. In a unanimous decision handed down Tuesday, the Second District Appellate Court of Illinois ruled that Lake County prosecutors did not improperly charge David Brocksom under the state's felony-murder rule, which allows a person to be convicted of first-degree murder if the killing occurred as the unintended result of another offense.
