One man dead in single vehicle crash in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — One man died Thursday night in a single vehicle accident. The crash happened about 8:46 p.m. in the 800 block of North Third Street. Lt. Randy Sherer with Lafayette Police Department says 53-year-old Ronald Cottrell left the road for an unknown reason, ran over the median and crashed into a utility pole.

Lafayette house hit several times in early Friday shooting

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — An officer and several witnesses reported hearing gunshots early Friday morning in the area of 15th and Morton streets. Several shell casings were found in the road and a house's siding was damaged by several bullets in the 1400 block of North 15th Street, according to Lt. Randy Sherer with Lafayette Police Department.

JASPER COUNTY — Jasper County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a DeMotte man for the alleged theft of several items in rural Jasper County this summer. Ronald L. Wireman, 53, was charged with two counts of theft, including the theft of property valuing between $750 and $50,000, which carries a Level 6 felony.

Lafayette man allegedly beats sleeping woman

A Lafayette man was arrested after allegedly beating a sleeping woman. Tramell White, 31, reportedly entered the victim’s residence on Julia Lane on Wednesday night while she was asleep and began to batter her, according to LPD Lt. Randy Sherer. White left the residence before police arrived. The victim ended up with injuries to the face and a laceration.

Arni's investigating after customer offended by slur

The owner of the Arni's Columbian Park location says he and his team will investigate after a customer’s order of a salad was labelled with a slur. A Lafayette resident posted Thursday night on Facebook a photo of the salad.
