First-of-its-kind respite home run by veterans for veterans opens in Wisconsin

(Mario Tama/Getty Images) (PEWAUKEE, Wis.) A new veteran-run facility designed to help other military vets recently opened in Pewaukee, according to Spectrum News 1. The R&R House is available for any veteran in Wisconsin dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues and is run by Mental Health America of Wisconsin with funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, according to a WDHS news release.

Gov. Evers announces $322M for new emergency rental assistance program

(Morry Gash/Getty Images) (MADISON, Wis.) Gov. Tony Evers announced over $322 million in funds for the new Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance Program on Thursday. The money is intended for Wisconsinites who've lost income during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the program, administered by the state Department of Administration (DOA), will help pay for rent and utility bills, home energy costs and wraparound services for eligible individuals, according to a news release from the governor's office.
